Brazilian Director Thiago Moyses brings to Germany and presents the festival “Favela Film Rio Berlin” (FFRB) to delight the German public with a rich cinematography with short and feature films, exposing the most diverse themes from the undoubted social issues to original and creative stories. Taboos, Minorities, Prejudice, Sexism, Racism, Social Classes Conflicts, Refugees, Drugs, Social Oppression, Corrupt Political System, all social criticism themes are together along other crucial Brazilian, and universal, questions, as Social Emancipation in sexuality, orientation and identity; the Environment Debate, such as the Amazonian Rainforest crisis; and also allegorical and fantastic worlds, through the folklore, regionalisms or pure imagination, that pics Brazil's soul and mentallity in a more subtle way, but not less relevant.
FFRB offers its viewers the possibility to participate in post-screening debates with Filmmakers and Critics from Brazil and Germany, who will bring depth and different points of view to the discussion. Some of the directors, actors and producers will be present in Babylon during the festival.
Post-screen debates in most of the feature films sessions with special guests and filmmakers will enhance the experience and connection between the audience and this Brazilian Cinema that is almost unknown. It's a door to the true reality of Brazil, beyond the stigmatized view of the traditional festivals.
FFRB will screen 52 films, 15 feature films and 37 short films, that expose the reality, beauty, ugliness, strangeness and much more that make Brazil unique.
The main purpose of the Festival is bringing together Germans, and the International Community that lives in Berlin, with Brazilians, the reason to be of the Cinema, connecting cultures in a two way message, from the movies to the public and from the public to the movies.
Also, the public will receive a paper to write their opinion, positive and negative, of the movies and to evaluate. The audience will decide which films will receive a symbolic prize, and why, making these relation even closer.
