Born in 1888, photographer and journalist Adolfo Porry-Pastorel was the father of Italian photojournalism, a pioneer of a new language, a brilliant creator of advertising ideas, and the founder of the agency V.E.D.O. - Visioni Editoriali Diffuse Ovunque. By the 1910s, he was already the leading photographer of news and live events. Between the two wars, he became the photographer of Mussolini while simultaneously being an observer of the regime, granted access to the Duces private rooms and monitored by fascist censorship. Thanks to his shots, millions of Italians experienced the news of those years, its historical and political events, its habits, and its changes. Original shootings, found footage, and pictures from the Istituto Luce archive portray a character capable of revealing the behind-the-scenes of power, the Belle Époque, the Fascist period, and the tragedy of the war.
