"I am the survivor of the laughing forest, but no happiness survived with me." Deep within the vast jungles under the canopy of the Trường Sơn Mountains, the girls guarding the military warehouse were consumed by loneliness, somber rainy seasons, and scorching dry seasons. After a battle, they fell before having the chance to love anyone—except for Thảo, the only girl who did not succumb to "laughing sickness." She returned to the city carrying the wounds of war. Directors: Trần Phương (1930–2000) was a Vietnamese film actor and director. He was widely known for his leading role in A Phủ and his Wife, and for directing films such as The Last Hope, The Final Sin, and The White Flower River. In the 1990s, during the rise of Vietnam’s “instant noodle films” (commercial popular cinema), his crime and security-themed films—such as The Turtle Lake Case and Hunting Robbers—achieved significant box office success.

TẤT BÌNH (*1949) is an actor, director, and producer. He directed the films Trăng Trên Đất Khách (Moon in a Foreign Land, 1998), Cái Tát Sau Cánh Gà (A Slap Behind the Scenes, 2002), Cuốn Sổ Ghi Đời (The Life Ledger, 1994), Những Người Sống Bên Tôi (The People Around Me, 1996), and Đồng Quê Xào Xạc (Rustling Countryside, 1999).
