The film tells the story of Juli Nora and Beni whose families were resettled during the communist regime to a remote village near a swamp. In present day Albania Juli works at her uncle Benis café called Bota and lives with her grandmother while taking care of her. Nora becomes Benis mistress while he tries to expand the café and attract new customers. With the construction of a highway near the village the quiet life of the characters begins to change.

Der Film erzählt die Geschichte von Juli, Nora und Beni, deren Familien während des kommunistischen Regimes in ein abgelegenes Dorf am Rand eines Sumpfes umgesiedelt wurden. Im heutigen Albanien arbeitet Juli im Café ihres Onkels Beni mit dem Namen Bota und lebt mit ihrer Großmutter, die sie pflegt. Nora wird Benis Geliebte, während er versucht, das Café zu erweitern und neue Kunden anzuziehen. Mit dem Bau einer Autobahn in der Nähe des Dorfes verändert sich das ruhige Leben der Figuren.
