(Italien), ist TORO die tragikomische Odyssee von Rocco und Angelo, zwei Freunden, die sich den
Herausforderungen des Erwachsenenlebens an der Schwelle zu ihren Vierzigern stellen und dabei
die Schwierigkeiten einer neuen Generation von Männern erleben.
Der Film erzählt von der Begegnung zweier Freunde – Rocco und Angelo – die sich in einer
existenziellen und emotionalen Krise wiederfinden. Auf der einen Seite steht Rocco, ein
desillusionierter Regisseur auf der Flucht vor sich selbst; auf der anderen Seite Angelo, ein
Jugendfreund, der mit Stolz die traditionellen Vorstellungen von Männlichkeit verkörpert. Ihre
Auseinandersetzung entwickelt sich zu einer gemeinsamen Reise voller Verletzlichkeit, Zuneigung
und gegenseitigem Verständnis.

Gedreht in Berlin, Brescia und am Gardasee, vereint TORO Autobiografisches und soziale
Beobachtung. Der Film stellt Geschlechterstereotype und gesellschaftliche Mechanismen in Frage,
in einer Erzählweise, die tiefpersönlich und zugleich universell ist.
Der Film wurde im Rahmen der Documentary Campus Masterschool (2022) entwickelt und erhielt
den Premio Luce Cinecittà beim Atelier MFN – Milano Film Network 2024, eine Auszeichnung für
die besten italienischen Projekte in der Postproduktion.
Für Rocco Di Mento, einen in Berlin lebenden italienischen Filmemacher, stellt TORO eine neue
Etappe in seiner Auseinandersetzung mit dem Dokumentarfilm als Mittel zur Selbstanalyse und
kulturellen Reflexion dar. Sein vorheriger Film, The Blunder of Love (2020), wurde mit dem Doc
Alliance Award beim Marché du Film in Cannes ausgezeichnet und bei zahlreichen internationalen

The film tells the story of the encounter between two friends – Rocco and Angelo – who find themselves in an
existential and emotional crisis. On the one hand is Rocco, a
disillusioned director on the run from himself; on the other is Angelo, a
childhood friend who proudly embodies traditional notions of masculinity. Their
confrontation develops into a shared journey full of vulnerability, affection,
and mutual understanding.

è l’odissea tragicomica di Rocco e Angelo, due amici che cercano di orientarsi tra le sfide dell’età

Il film racconta l’incontro tra due amici – Rocco e Angelo – che si ritrovano in un momento di crisi

amico d’infanzia che incarna con orgoglio i canoni della virilità tradizionale. Il loro confronto
