Three unusual love stories: A wannabe Don Giovanni confesses his impotence to his doctor, who promptly tells his friends; some boys mercilessly exploit the gratitude of an innocent neighbour; a banker tries to come to terms with his recent break-up with his girlfriend.

The film is set in an unspecified town in Veneto, which is referred to as Rezega in the local newspaper (and the cars have imaginary RZ number plates). The plot revolves around the events of a group of middle-class merchants and professionals who, behind an impeccable façade of respectability, hide a dense web of mutual betrayals.
The Don Juan Toni Gasparini, as admired as he is feared by his friends, confesses to Dr Castellan, a doctor and friend, that he has been impotent for many months, in order to lower his guard towards his young and lively wife Noemi.

The doctor spreads the confidence with insensitive levity among his circle of friends, for the pure pleasure of gossip, unaware that he is going along with the plan.

Accountant Osvaldo Bisigato, a modest bank clerk, afflicted by his oppressive and resentful wife Gilda, who constantly reproaches him for his failures and lack of ambition, believes he can start a new life by running away with Milena Zulian, the young and beautiful cashier at the bar frequented by the whole group, who reciprocates his interest.

Alda Cristofoletto, a young and beautiful country girl (described as white as milk and hard as marble by the shoe salesman Lino Benedetti), arrives in town to do some shopping and does not go unnoticed by a group of womanising friends, who one after the other take advantage of her availability. But the next day, the girl's father, farmer Bepi Cristofoletto, reports them all for corruption of a minor.

Il film è ambientato in un'imprecisata cittadina veneta, che nell'insegna del giornale locale è indicata come Rezega (e le auto hanno un'immaginaria targa RZ). La trama è imperniata sulle vicende di una compagnia di commercianti e professionisti della medio-alta borghesia che, dietro un'impeccabile facciata di perbenismo, nasconde una fitta trama sottintesa di tradimenti reciproci.
Il dongiovanni Toni Gasparini, tanto ammirato quanto temuto dagli amici, confessa al dottor Castellan, medico nonché amico, di essere impotente ormai da molti mesi, per fargli abbassare la guardia nei confronti della giovane e vivace moglie Noemi. Il medico diffonde con insensibile leggerezza la confidenza nella cerchia degli amici, per il puro piacere del pettegolezzo, inconsapevole di assecondarne il piano.
Il ragionier Osvaldo Bisigato, modesto impiegato di banca, afflitto da una moglie, Gilda, oppressiva e rancorosa, che gli rinfaccia costantemente fallimenti e mancanza di ambizioni, crede di poter iniziare una nuova vita scappando con Milena Zulian, la giovane e bella cassiera del bar frequentato da tutta la comitiva, che ricambia il suo interesse.
Alda Cristofoletto, una giovane e bella ragazza di campagna (definita bianca come el late e dura come el marmo dal venditore di scarpe Lino Benedetti), arrivata in città per fare acquisti, non passa inosservata agli occhi di un gruppo di amici donnaioli, che uno dopo l'altro approfittano della sua disponibilità. Ma il giorno dopo il contadino Bepi Cristofoletto, padre della ragazza, appena sedicenne, li denuncia tutti per corruzione di minore.
