A family lives in isolation on a rural mountaintop. Người truyền giống là câu chuyện về 3 con người với 3 số phận khác nhau trên miền núi Tây Bắc. Bị bệnh hiểm nghèo, ông Bội muốn cậu con trai của mình kiếm vợ, sinh con để nối dõi tông đường. Cô con gái lớn, trung thành với lời thề độc, không thể lấy chồng ngày nào em trai chưa lấy vợ và có con.
